Where is the Tacoma Now??

Check here for regular updates as to the whereabouts of the MFV Tacoma.

5th August 2016

We are safely tucked up in the Marina at the end of Sandy Point Drive getting ready for a big year ahead.

But laying at her berth, she is not all quiet.  There are four engines to run - the Grenna, the Perkins, the Onan and the winch motor …and then there are all the other things that need moving during winter.

The team are tucked up in Busseys shed working on the surf boat….. yes sadly after 72 years she needs some 35 new ribs.

The AGA gets a stoke-up and the radio buttons are pushed …and then there is the constant washing to get rid of those pesky roosting starlings.

In October she will be off to the Yacht Club opening and later for her annual wool run down to Taylor Island. After that we are hopefully taking a chug around the Bay with groups of naval cadets.

Then it will be December and time for another annual highlight – the pre Christmas lighting up the Marina – not to be missed!

Is there anyone interested in a spring wedding?

We are ready to go and look forward to catering for your special day on board.

Plus our three charity days.

And 2016 is another BIG year for the MFV Tacoma. It’s the 60th anniversary of the trip made by US tuna fishing brothers Cris and Sverre Jangaard to Port Lincoln. Their visit had a major impact the Tacoma and the Australian fishing industry.

We are working on a number of 60th anniversary celebratory events. All will be revealed in the Newsletter and on the website.
